Day 2 in DC was much nicer weather. It was sunny and just perfect. To start the day off, the train was slower than usual getting to DC. We had a scheduled time to take a tour of the White House so when we got off the train we ran for 2 miles in order to get there on time. We made it and we probably didn't need to run...At least we got some exercise in!
The White House was so cool! Of course the tour isn't in the "real" parts of the White House, but we were there and the rooms are very big and grand. The security is top notch too. It took us a little while just to get through security. We also saw Pres. Obama's motorcade so that was cool.
It was hot, so of course we got some ice cream.
We went to the Natural History Museum and saw the dinosaur exhibit and the Hope diamond. It is a huge museum, and we didn't even get through a little bit of it. That was fun!
Next was the American History Museum and we loved the Food exhibit. This is probably one of my favorite museums. The original Star-Spangled Banner is there as well as so many other things. We were in there for a long time and could have spent much more time there!
Next we went to the National Archives, and I couldn't get a picture of the actual Declaration of Independence or the Constitution, but those are super cool. I love American history and seeing everything that makes America what it is today!
It was really bright, but these are good pictures.
We went to 3 museums, walked all day and ran to the White House. This is how we felt after it was over...
But of course, we were so happy to be there!
And of course we had to make a stop at the USDA building since they are the ones who control our profession :)
I love D.C!!
Love,
Rach
