Mom's Day!

Happy Mother's day Mom!

I thought I would take a little bit of a different approach to this post. Usually on past Mother's day posts I have listed the qualities or stories that I have had with my mom. While she still does so much, I've thought a little differently about Mothers day today. For some reason, the thought of my own family has been on my mind. No, I'm not dating anyone and I'm not planning on getting married anytime soon. But as I thought about my mom today, I thought what are some of the things that she has taught me that I would implement as a future mom.

I came up with a few:
- Teach my children the value of hard work-->Mom always pushed us to earn money for something that we really wanted or to work hard to reach our goals.
- Teach my children the love of the outdoors-->Mom and I love flowers! We also enjoy camping together as a family and being outside. It's one of the characteristics that I value most
-Teach my children a love for the gospel-->I probably got my testimony from my parents and then figured it out on my own.
-Take time to listen-->Mom is always willing to listen to anything I have to say. Our conversations are some of my favorite parts of my day.
-Love my husband-->Mom is a great example of loving Dad. Their relationship for each other has helped me know what I look for in a future spouse. They are great at working together and loving each other.

There are so many other things that I have learned from Mom that I hope to institute into my future family. While I am enjoying my life in college right now, I look forward to being a mom to my own little chitlins. Seeing how our family has evolved makes me nervous and excited for my own family. While I am not ready to be a mom quite yet, I know that I can learn so much from Mom. She is a great example to our family and is hard working. She loves each of us kids and I'm grateful for the example she sets for each of us.

I hope you have a fabulous Mother's Day Mom!

Much love,

Rachel

PS: We got to talk to Joseph and he was so happy and is doing so great! Love and miss this guy :)
