Today I accomplished another half marathon! I have a love/hate relationship with running half marathons. I love the feeling of accomplishing something hard, but I hate the road that you have to take to finish it. Half marathons are grueling! It is a mental game just as much as a physical challenge. My friend from BYU, Megan, and I decided to run one. She is here in Utah so we decided on the Timp half. It was close to her house so last night I went over and slept over at her house.
The race was early! We had to wake up at 3:45am to get to Lone Peak HS at 4:15am we then took the bus and arrived around 5 am. The race didn't start til 6am so we sat and stretched for a little bit. Then it began. We were making really good time, Megan was ahead for the first 10 miles, but she was insight the whole time. I was really surprised when I hit 7 miles in an hour, usually it takes me longer. The course was all down hill til about mile 8. That was when I was starting to get tired. Mile 10 was killer and I passed Megan. My goal was to beat two hours, but I got 2:04 so not bad!
I am really sore, tired and not feeling the greatest, but what I love about half marathons is that you can see your results. I have improved physically and mentally and I had a really great time. I am taking a short break from running and I am going to do some fitness classes at BYU to give my body a break, but I had so much fun and was glad that I could do this. :)
Meg and I getting ready for bed, we were nervous for the morning!
At the start at 5:00 am!
Getting a little anxious, nervous, and EXCITED!
We finished, we had matching tanks too! :)
So happy to be done! :)
I love this girl, so glad I got to meet her at BYU
Finished strong!!
